8 First Date Tips for Women (or Men)

While surfing through the cyber world, I happened upon this article:

8 First Date Tips for Women
First dates are all about getting to the second date. Here's how to make him fall all over himself for a second date with you
By Lauren Frances

I figured ok, lets see what the other side is thinking. Guess what? We are thinking the same thing! Here is a brief run-down of her tips:

Tip 1. Don't be negative. Remember, this should be fun.
Tip 2. Don't get tipsy. (Read: Fraternity days are gone- goodbye "Frank the Tank")
Tip 3. Don't talk about exes.
Tip 4. Be confident. Confidence breeds success.
Tip 5. Keep your issues to yourself. Your date is not your therapist!
Tip 6. Don't chase him or her.
Tip 7. Don't yap for the sake of yapping.
Tip 8. If things are not up to snuff, get out gracefully. (Read: don't be a jerk)

For the most part, this is pretty good advice. However, I do have an issue with #6, where the author states, 'Don't chase your date. Never deprive a man of the thrill of the chase.'

While as a guy, you should always be initiating, it is nice to get some sort of an indicator of interest every once in a while from the woman - whether it be a simple text message, phone call or e-mail. For a woman to "entice men, play with them, and release them" may send a false signal to the guy that she is not interested - which could result in a guy prematurely backing off.

Bottom line - if you are a woman interested in a guy, let him initiate -- but at the same time, don't act too aloof. You may scare him off. As a guy, if you're interested in a woman, take the lead and call her up for another date. If she is not interested, she will let you know.

But remember the truest point of all, as we have said many times before... DATING SHOULD BE FUN! If you are not having fun on your dates, you are doing something wrong.

Happy dating!

More about Approaching Women

For more information about our services, including online dating profile rewrites and critiques, as well as live approach workshops, click here.

In an earlier post we wrote briefly about approaching women. We gave three important rules to remember before you get up to bat:
1- "It doesn't matter" what anyone thinks of you
2- Not every approach leads to anything
3- RELAX

That's all well and good, but you need to do a little bit more in order to improve upon your success.

One of the most important concepts to remember is what we call "PROACTIVE REACTION"

Big words for a simple concept - be prepared and then react!

By going into an approach with a clear plan you GREATLY improve upon your results and prevent the dreaded "over-thinking". Once you have enough practice and experience (and a coach that points out flaws or areas to improve upon), you'll see your success rate improve dramatically.

What do I talk about? How do I start up a conversation? During our seminars and workshops we provide a number of methods. One of the simple ones is our "OSO" approach - an observation, followed by a story, and then an opinion question.

The observation is what "gets you in". The story keeps her interested. And the opinion intrigues her. This simple OSO technique is great whether you are just getting started with "approaching" or even if you consider yourself to be a bit of an artist. In some cases, all you need is the observation to get you in and then things will flow smoothly.

Feel free to mix up the order of the opinion and observation if you like, or even start with the story. Some may preach opening with an opinion, but to us an observational opener is much more natural. Either way, happy "hunting"!

Family Guy: What Can We Learn From Quagmire?

www.ApproachDynamics.com

As I was watching an episode of Family Guy, I thought about what the show could teach us about dating, relationships and "approach".

1. Even someone like Quagmire can get a girl! Giggidy Giggidy! Everyone's goal is different (date as many people as possible, find a special someone, have multiple long term relationships, get married, etc.). The first question you need to ask yourself with regard to women and dating is, "What exactly am I looking for?" After all, if you are looking to buy a Mercedes, you are NOT going to walk into a Ford dealership. Once you are clear with yourself as to what you want, you will have a MUCH easier time meeting the kind of women you are seeking. Trust me - whatever your objective may be, there are women out there that will go along with it.

2. Another thanks to Glenn Quagmire - the art of "Peacocking" (wearing something to make yourself stand out with the intention of attracting the opposite sex). Dressing to attract attention works! Case in point - red Hawaiian shirt with yellow flowers and his light blue tuxedo!
